PLEASE NOTE: UPDATE TO POINTS & YEAR END AWARDS FOR 2020 SEASON
In light of the complications and difficulties brought on by the Covid pandemic, we are modifying the rules for accumulating points to qualify for year end awards:
FOR THE 2020 SEASON ONLY, all members participating in at least two shows at any venue (it can be the same location) will qualify for year ends. We are also waiving the requirement to participate at specific MEHJA hosted events or volunteer for the 2020 season ONLY. All other rules and regulations per the 2020 rule book continue to apply.

In keeping with USEF, USHJA and aligning ourselves with local organizations and being mindful of the restrictions placed by our governor, I am sad to announce that this year’s Summer Classic Horse Show is cancelled. Please know that as a board we have discussed the issue thoroughly and have kept abreast of the COVID-19 pandemic. While we are sorry that the show is not able to be held, it is our hope that the many trainers, riders and parents who planned to attend our show understand our position. We did not make this decision lightly.
As the situation continues to unfold, we will keep you informed of changes and updates as quickly as we can.
Thank you very much for your patience during this time. We hope you all remain healthy and hope to see you in the show ring soon!
IN ALIGNMENT WITH THE USHJA AND USEF, MEHJA WILL BE EXTENDING SUSPENSION OF ALL MEHJA COMPETITIONS AND EVENTS THROUGH MAY 3RD. COMPETITIONS WHO CHOOSE TO HOST DURING THIS TIME PERIOD MAY NOT INCLUDE THE MEHJA NAME WITH ANY CLASSES OR PROPERTY AND WILL DO SO WITHOUT MEHJA RECOGNITION. COMPETITORS ATTENDING THOSE EVENTS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCUMULATE OR EARN POINTS TO QUALIFY FOR YEAR END AWARDS. MEHJA WILL CONTINUE TO ALIGN WITH THE USHJA AND USEF AND FOLLOW RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE CDC, AS WELL AS STATE AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS, AND WILL MONITOR THE SITUATION CLOSELY AS IT EVOLVES.
In the interest of everyone's health and safety, we encourage our affiliates to do the same. Any shows within this 30 day suspension WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR MEHJA POINTS toward year awards. We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding through this difficult scenario. Please be safe!

Don't forget to check the 2020 Rulebook for changes to how points are tallied for Year End Awards! In order for points to count, riders must log volunteer hours for MEHJA OR compete at one of the two MEHJA sponsored Classics. Points from a maximum 6 shows will be combined for Year End Awards; if more than 6 shows are attended, points from the highest placing divisions will be used.
We would love to see entries for Division I awards as well! Check out the information on page 4 of the 2020 Rulebook for details and/or always feel free to reach out to mainehjassn@gmail.com with questions!
